In Character Information
Name: Brainstorm
Series: The Transformers - IDW Generation 1 Comics
Canon Standing: Post More Than Meets The Eye #7 - Rules of Disengagement
Age: Timeless. Really. Cybertronians are a race that is effectively immortal in terms of aging.
Birthday & Astrology Sign: June 4th, Gemini
Arcana: The Hermit [Inverted]

Personality:
Brainstorm, at the core of things, is a genius. He knows this, and flaunts it. He's damn good at building things, inventing new things, and pushing technology to the limits, just because he can. He doesn't really like the idea of letting little things like ethics or rigorous testing get in the way of progress - as at one point he makes the comment that by the time one of his more cautious peers finished checking their work and having it reviewed that "I think I might have killed myself by that point". He enjoys doing science for the sake of science, though he has a tendency to have issues focusing on one idea at a time, and has peculiar hangups - like being unable to decide on a color for a new ammunition type. He has a one-track mind, though the track meanders around, and tends to stop a lot mid-journey. He's also prone to biting, witty commentary in any given situation - often at the expense of others.

When it comes to others, Brainstorm's quick to throw around his intellect thanks to his ego, but it's also rather fragile - the suggestion that others are smarter than he is leads to immense frustration on his part. Once his ego's been bruised, he'll often go work on things out of frustration and spite, pushing both his work and himself to crazy limits, in hope that someone will notice him and be impressed. He seems mixed on how he deals with authority figures - he's callous and dismissive if he thinks he can get away with it, but if not, he seems to be more cautious. However, he does seem to take some degree of entertainment in pushing his luck with them, given that he's quite notorious for bringing one horrible weapon after another to the Autobots' Ethics Committee, only to get shot down for them breaking the Non-Conventional Weapons Act.

Brainstorm doesn't really have friends, thanks to his winning personality and somewhat reclusive nature in burying himself in projects. A fellow Autobot, Chromedome, considers himself to be Brainstorm's only friend, but Brainstorm treats him the same as everyone else, enough that Chromedome's told him that "you have to be nice to me, I'm your only friend".

Backstory: Brainstorm's TFWiki Page

Canon Powers:
Transformation (Physical) - Brainstorm, as a Cybertronian, can reconfigure the shape of his body to take a different form. In his case, he transforms into a futuristic jet vehicle, capable of a maximum speed of 5,200mph, with a maximum range of 8000 miles.

Alt-Mode Scanning (Physical) - As a number of their race operate on alien worlds, and often do so discreetly, Cybertronians can alter their alternate form to resemble local things on the planet, most notably vehicles. This isn't something they do often, however, as it uses up an immense amount of energy to do so.

Holomatter Avatar (Mind/Lightning) - Due to their race's comparably large size to a number of others in the universe, Autobot Cybertronians are capable of producing tangible solid-light projections - these are often used to simulate drivers when an Autobot is assuming the form of a local vehicle. The projection is also a projection of their mind, and are capable of delivering electrical surges if they're threatened and are a considerable distance from the projecting body. However, this burns out their generator and requires it to be repaired. The avatars can be solid or intangible, and do not require a direct line of sight with their projector. Their are capable of shifting size if needed, and their appearance is entirely up to their projecting Autobot.

Canon Weapons|Items:

High-Energy Photon Pulse Cannons (Light) - Nothing particularly special. Shoots light beams that are on par with an average energy weapon in a giant robot story. Likely comparable to a Gundam's Beam Rifle on a slightly smaller scale.

"The Unmentionable" (Almighty) - It's a briefcase full of Bad News. We really don't know for certain what's inside it yet. However, as his canon is currently ongoing, we may find out in the future. Until then, the briefcase will NOT be opened in-game, but as he takes the thing everywhere, handcuffed to his wrist, well. It's there. And it's scary.

Canon Allies: N/A

Canon Baggage: A big toolbox full of things to do SCIENCE with, and a hand-held communicator that he will have jury-rigged to work in place of a watch here, as he's too large to use one properly.

1st Person | Action Example
[The video feed flicks on while Brainstorm is mouthing off about something.]

--really, I don't see why I have to do this. I have things to do. Important things.

[There's an incline of his head as he realizes that he's already recording. Well. He's no stranger to speaking his mind.]

Yes. Incredibly important things. I'd say more important that what you're all doing, but it seems there's some difference of opinion there. [Bitter? Naaaaaaaaaah.]

Either way. I am Brainstorm, and I am responsible for a sizeable amount of the work that went into a lot of the tech you all have, or have experienced the beneficial effects of, unknowingly. Those of you with large objects from home have me to thank for that transport system. The Evokers used in the arena? Me again. As well as a fair amount of tweaking and perfecting your COMPs and watches you received. I do hope you manage some degree of appreciation, as crafting devices to fit such small beings was incredibly painstaking for someone like myself.

I suppose it's an unfortunate eventuality that some number of you will somehow manage to break something. If that happens, you may contact me about repairs, but I am usually quite busy, and I'm not going to be happy about having to deal with the consequences of your carelessness.

3rd Person | Prose Example
Unlike most of the inhabitants of Hinoto-Ri, Brainstorm has been here for several months already. And seeing as he's a touch too large for the given apartments, he's acquired himself a space that looks more like a hangar than a house, but for someone like him, it works. Most of the time, the door is shut, but today, it is open. It's not that Brainstorm wants visitors - it's that he expects the myriad new arrivals to break their new toys. Organics are clumsy things, and much as he loathes to interrupt his own work and research, well. Some things just have to be done, whether he likes it or not.

Those who approach would hear the sound of tools in use - and perhaps be unlucky enough to step up when he's welding, and get a eyeful of terribly bright light. Whatever he's doing when approached, though, he's too busy to notice their approach.

At the side of the open hagar door is sign with an arrow pointing to a roughly human-scaled stairwell. It zigzags up to a platform that will put anyone who climbs it roughly at Brainstorm's chest level. There's a panel on the safety railing with a large palm-sized button on it. A digital display above it displays "Press For Assistance" in multiple languages. It appears to be considerate, but it's mostly to cut down on what he considers annoyances.
